2.2 Reality-bending Faith
It is said that we create our own reality. For behind the walls of our sensing bodies, we assign meaning to the outside world around us based on how we see ourselves in relation to it. Physical reality exists only as a model inside our brains.
Taken to extremes, this principle has radical results. We can look at the raving madman who flees imagined dementors in pursuit. Or self-proclaimed witches who charge their powers by the full moon for their spells and incantations. Or the superstitious soccer player who believes his rabbit’s foot will help him win the game. Who is to say their model is distorted?
From the outward point of view, such behavior seems ridiculous but time and time again, the power of belief shows up as a compelling idea in our fiction and science. And even if that rabbit’s foot carried by a thousand people produces no empirical result, those who are searching for meaning will eventually find it, even if it is self-manufactured.
This is the power of belief, whether it is some manipulation of the universe or of your own psychology, if you feel lucky, luck will come to you.
I’m not suggesting this is magic. If you persuade your mind to look for good (the aspects that appeal to your prosperity) then you are literally embracing a growth mentality and your futures will pay dividends.
When a belief is encoded on our hearts, it saturates every aspect of our being, we feel it so powerfully that our being seems to “vibrate” with it. Very quickly the ripples of a single thought can create a tidal wave of action.
Intentions, channeled through our conscious self, create ripples in the physical realm that conduct energy just like kinetic acts. Our intentions interact with reality in such a powerful way. Quantum psychics and ancient studies of magick confirm this.
Words like this might make people uncomfortable, we might feel sheepishly like the raving madman, but to accurately get the picture, we need to use our imagination in this way. The only valid fear we can experience is that we would get in the way of our own understanding.
So if living in a fantasy land, filled with deities and demons fuels you on your hero’s journey, who is stopping you? Is it your own fear of being not accepted? If this grand ascension of imagination, fueled by the uplifting of our perspective, feels too much like a delusion, consider the next section as a more practical reward from perspective.
