1.6 The Inner Deities
Even though these holy men came to know god-consciousness through different religious perspectives, they bear the same mark of inner peace, wisdom and power. But to get to this place, each of us have our own obstacles to overcome, our own cultural bias, our unique tastes and needs; this is why different religions pave the straight and narrow path with different stones. But all achieve the same goal of inner enlightenment.
As these holy men instrument practices in their own life around this god-consciousness, they themselves become its high priest of its manifestation. Picture an ancient shrine to some pagan god, the pitted fires illuminating the temple wall, the smoky incense enveloping the halls, the dull hum of chants filling the air. It is here that all earthly resemblance of their deity is put on display to symbolize the union of its essence with its devotees.
The temple symbolizes our lives and the ideals we adorn them in honor of the gods we serve. Our unique pursuit of inner peace, wisdom and power demands a unique host of deities to strengthen us on our journey. Each deity that we can learn from gives us new clairvoyance, clairvoyance which paints our demons in a new light so that we may transform them into fruit-bearing blossoms.
“My body is a temple to the Lord”
This is not heresy, in fact is it the purest form of the Christian New Testament Revelation. That the each of us would hold the keys to our own repentance and atonement. These metaphors open you up to a whole new world of imagery with which to elevate your perspective and guide your spiritual walk.
It is here that some readers who argue god is not meant to be understood, only served in the fashion taught by their religion, will lose interest. I won’t argue that divine truth can be cryptic because we are mortal beings, but all things with time. David, a “man after god’s own heart” was a judicious king who committed many errors but was quick to learn. It is this same curiosity that led us to fall from grace in eating of the tree of knowledge which was part of god’s plan all along: to give us freedom that we may choose to develop that knowledge or stay asleep. Those who wish to follow, no matter how strange or cryptic the truth may seem, will find him and enjoy the bliss of enlightenment for all eternity.
