Chapter II – Pursuing Wisdom
From Purpose to Wisdom. Here you might say, “I’m energized because once again, I’ve found myself on the path, but who will guide me!? How am I to trust myself when I I just had to save myself from dark, purposelessness depression?” Have you ever wondered:
How do I make decisions, just trust my gut or is that too unreliable?
- Is love too vulnerable a position?
- Can we get burned if we trust our intuition?
What is right in a universe full of paradoxes?
And if we can’t trust our instincts, can we trust our mind? The world is full of grey, who can say what is good and what’s bad, things are not black and white.
Wisdom is being able to see shades of grey in everyday situations and the principles lurking behind them. The truth is, there is not “right” side of the paradox: The Dark Side of the Force and the Light Side both have their merits.
Every decision must be situational and includes a mix of principles + instincts steeped into us over eons of evolutionary ecology. Experience, the nature of Wisdom, is being able to sort them out. Wisdom is having eyes for sacred laws and seeing how material details vibrate into alignment with them.
What is Wisdom
Think about the sacred laws behind the The Force (from Star Wars). The Dark Side and the Light Side of the Force illustrate two paths to fulfill purpose. The Light Side focuses on a grander, more universal sense of perspective, one’s identity and pursuit of good being rooted in that collective good, an ally of the whole life force. The Dark Side is more concerned with actualizing our own will, even when it runs contrary to our own fate, or put another way, the good of the whole.
The Dark Side worships passion, that ability to manifest our own beliefs into fruition, even if they are misguided. This rebellion against the status quo is indeed a form of heroism revered in our myths and lore. Beliefs come from a place inward and deeper, the unvoiced feelings about the way the world should be.
However The Dark Side prioritizes our lower urges, our immediate reactions, our unrefined nature. Sometimes our emotions act in alignment with our higher nature, and sometimes they do not. But this is the price of learning as we train the intuition.
The pursuit of wisdom is training our intuition – testing out beliefs against reality in the pursuit of better understanding these universal laws. In the process, we grow greater aligned to things which are fundamentally true about the universal and observable form the big down to the small.
This chapter will speak to you if you've experienced
- Frustration trying to be a perfectionist in life, overthinking about what is “right” and losing sight of what you feel.
- You don’t try to over-logic things and rely mostly on your beliefs. How do I know when to challenge them?
- You don’t actually trust your un-filtered intuition to take control. This chapter will inspire you to study nature so that it can reveal the natural order of things and kickstart your intuition.
